What looks like a snow-covered village full of ruins is, in reality, a film set; a collection of backdrops belonging to an old film production company, which have to be cleared of snow every day. For a pittance, the caretakers prepare them for clients that never show up. But suddenly, the film\u2019s animation bursts into real images \u2013 live action \u2013 and a virtual world emerges, offering a ray of hope where there was once only snow.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

To expire means <\/span><\/i>to linger in the past, whether by force or by choice, and this applies just as much to places. Light Pillar\u2019s setting is a Sisyphean labour, a daily routine dedicated to upholding an empty promise. A mapping of escapism and its<\/span> missteps.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Was aussieht wie ein verschneites Dorf voller Ruinen, ist in Wahrheit ein Filmset; eine Ansammlung an Kulissen einer alten Filmproduktionsfirma, welche t\u00e4glich vom Schnee befreit werden m\u00fcssen. Gegen einen Hungerlohn bereiten die Hausmeister diese f\u00fcr die nie kommenden Kunden vor. Doch pl\u00f6tzlich bricht die Animation des Films in echte Bilder aus \u2013 Live Action \u2013 eine virtuelle Welt erw\u00e4chst und bietet einen Lichtblick, wo sonst nur Schnee war.<\/span>
To expire means, in der Vergangenheit zu verweilen, gezwungen- oder freiwilligerma\u00dfen, und das gilt ebenso f\u00fcr Orte. Das t\u00e4gliche Schneesch\u00fcppen in Lightpillars Schauplatz ist ein sissyphosischer Akt, ein Alltag zum Aufrechterhalten eines leeren Versprechens.
