Genre, trash and B-movies disappeared from Iran following the 1979 Islamic Revolution. During this time, the de facto film archive, the Kino Rex, was completely destroyed by fire following an act of arson. Director Ehsan Khoshbakht transforms over 1,000 \u2018ghost films\u2019 \u2013 which could not be released due to the new regulations introduced after 1979 \u2013 into a mosaic of past possibilities. In <\/span>Filmfarsi<\/b>, the tragedy of this lost media becomes a walk-in space of memories that were never made.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

To expire means<\/span><\/i> to disappear or to be unable to be released \u2013 irrevocably, and hardly anything represents this as much as film in its very materiality. Whether through censorship or destruction. And Khoshbakht\u2019s protest against the past lies in his obsession with finding answers in it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Genre-, Trash- und B-Filme sind nach der Islamischen Revolution 1979 aus dem Iran verschwunden. W\u00e4hrend dieser brannte ebenfalls das de facto Filmarchiv Kino Rex nach Brandstiftung vollkommen ab. Regisseur Ehsan Khoshbakht verwandelt \u00fcber 1.000 \u201eGeisterfilme\u201c, die aufgrund der neuen Regularien nach 1979 nicht ver\u00f6ffentlicht werden konnten, in ein Mosaik vergangener M\u00f6glichkeiten. Die Tragik der ungesehenen Filme wird in Filmfarsi zu einem begehbaren Raum aus nie gemachten Erinnerungen.<\/span><\/p>

To expire means, zu verschwinden oder nie ver\u00f6ffentlicht werden zu k\u00f6nnen \u2013 unwiderruflich, und kaum etwas repr\u00e4sentiert dies so sehr wie Film in seiner Materialhaftigkeit selbst.
