The Beginning of the End, or the End of the Beginning? This year, our focus is Resistance \u2013<\/span> and what comes after it: Dystopia. Our two curated sections, Fragments of Resistance and Abseits: Dystopia<\/strong>, are bridged by one pivotal film: <\/span>Born in Flames<\/span><\/strong>.<\/strong> Lizzie Borden\u2019s visionary work imagines a world ten years after a peaceful socialist revolution. But what happens after the revolution, when the banners are gone and the system claims to be just? The film shows us what remains: patriarchy, economic inequality, the continued oppression of women, queer and trans people. Freedom is promised, but not delivered.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Led by black lesbian working-class women, a new movement rises. Not to tear down what was \u2013 but to demand the liberation that was never granted. <\/span>Born in Flames<\/span><\/strong> offers a radical vision of intersectional revolution: one that doesn\u2019t stop at regime change but reshapes the very fabric of society.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

If Fragments of Resistance is about memory and struggle, and Abseits: Dystopia warns of the future we’re complicit in creating, then <\/span>Born in Flames<\/span> is their convergence \u2013 a story of resisting dystopia from within, of imagining otherwise in a world that insists we cannot. This is not just the end. This might be the beginning \u2013 again.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Der Anfang vom Ende \u2013 oder das Ende vom Anfang? In diesem Jahr liegt unser Fokus auf Widerstand \u2013 und auf dem, was danach kommt: der Dystopie. Unsere beiden kuratierten Sektionen, Fragments of Resistance und ABSEITS: Dystopia<\/strong>, werden durch einen zentralen Film miteinander verbunden: Born in Flames. Lizzie Bordens vision\u00e4res Werk entwirft eine Welt zehn Jahre nach einer friedlichen sozialistischen Revolution. Doch was passiert nach der Revolution, wenn die Fahnen eingerollt sind und das System sich selbst f\u00fcr gerecht erkl\u00e4rt? Der Film zeigt, was bleibt: Patriarchat, \u00f6konomische Ungleichheit, die fortgesetzte Unterdr\u00fcckung von Frauen, Queers und trans Personen. Freiheit wird versprochen \u2013 aber nicht eingel\u00f6st.<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Angef\u00fchrt von Schwarzen lesbischen Arbeiterinnen entsteht eine neue Bewegung. Nicht, um das Alte einfach niederzurei\u00dfen, sondern um die Befreiung einzufordern, die nie verwirklicht wurde. Born in Flames entwirft eine radikale Vision einer intersektionalen Revolution \u2013 eine, die nicht bei einem Systemwechsel stehen bleibt, sondern die Gesellschaft grundlegend neu denkt.<\/span><\/p><\/div>

Wenn Fragments of Resistance<\/strong> sich mit Erinnerung und Widerstand besch\u00e4ftigt und ABSEITS: Dystopia<\/strong> vor der Zukunft warnt, an deren Entstehung wir alle mitwirken, dann ist Born in Flames<\/strong> ihr Schnittpunkt \u2013 eine Geschichte des Widerstands gegen die Dystopie, von Gegenentw\u00fcrfen in einer Welt, die uns glauben machen will, dass es keine Alternativen gibt.
