Visual Screams explores the provocative life and legacy of Klaus Paier (1945–2009), a visionary pioneer of German street art.

While studying physics at RWTH Aachen, Paier discovered building walls as the ultimate medium for his political activism. He used his „Visual Screams“ to challenge the status quo on issues ranging from fascism and nuclear power to homophobia and social injustice. By doing so, he radically reclaimed public space as a vital arena for political participation.

The film moves beyond Aachen to his later years in Cologne.

„Visual Screams“ beleuchtet das provokante Leben und Vermächtnis von Klaus Paier (1945–2009), einem visionären Pionier der deutschen Street-Art.

Während seines Physikstudiums an der RWTH Aachen entdeckte Paier die Hauswände als das ultimative Medium für seinen politischen Aktivismus. Mit seinen „Visual Screams“ stellte er den Status quo in Fragen wie Faschismus, Atomkraft, Homophobie und sozialer Ungerechtigkeit in Frage. Damit eroberte er den öffentlichen Raum radikal als wichtige Arena für politische Teilhabe zurück.

Der Film geht über Aachen hinaus und beleuchtet auch seine späteren Jahre in Köln.
