Three days of walking through the Liangshan Mountains in search of a skirt for a rite of passage ceremony. Qihuo and her friends set out on their own, moving through a landscape that feels vast and harsh, but strangely protective. The mountains, the elderly, traditions; there is a sense of being guarded, but not watched. Days stretch out and small detours become important. This portrait of girlhood captures a familiar point in time and hits like a déjà-vu: the freedom to roam, the resilience that goes almost unnoticed, the sense of a future already taking shape while childhood is still lingering on. Bleakness and beauty of the landscapes, boredom and play side by side. The rhythm of days spent outside, when the world is enormous and time moves differently.

Drei Tage zu Fuß durch die Liangshan-Berge, auf der Suche nach einem Rock für ein Rite of Passage. Qihuo und ihre Freundinnen ziehen allein los, durch eine Landschaft, weit und rau, aber auf seltsame Weise beschützend. Die Berge, die Alten, die Traditionen; das Gefühl, behütet zu sein, ohne beobachtet zu werden. Die Tage dehnen sich, kleine Umwege werden wichtig. Dieses Porträt von Girlhood hat etwas Vertrautes, fast wie ein Déjà-vu: die Freiheit, einfach loszuziehen, eine beiläufige Resilienz, die Zukunft, die schon beginnt, während die Kindheit noch nicht ganz vorbei ist. Kargheit und Schönheit der Landschaft, Langeweile und Spiel nebeneinander. Der Rhythmus draußen verbrachter Tage, wenn die Welt riesig ist und die Zeit anders vergeht.
